Cinema Narcs Live: Night One Recap
Posted by Ron on June 10, 2011Well, last night was an experiment. Two liveblogs were attempted, one for “Them!” and one for “The Cosmic Monster.” One of these liveblogs was very successful; one of them was stymied by general confusion, mild technical problems, and my inability to wake up to an alarm clock like a normal person.
The opening liveblog, “Them!” went pretty poorly. The post that contained the liveblog didn’t go live on time, I overslept, and it took us awhile to get used to how the liveblogging widget I installed in the site’s back end actually works. Still, the movie itself is a great one, and once the liveblog got rolling, I think things were legitimately entertaining.
In fact, “Them!” was rolling so well at the end Andrew and I pushed on and also liveblogged “The Cosmic Monsters,” AKA “The Strange World of Planet X,” which is a 1958 giant monster movie made in England starring Forrest Tucker. It’s as bad as “Them!” is good, but that made it even more fun for us to liveblog and hopefully more fun for you folks at home to liveread. Live-read? Whatever, follow along with.
We enjoyed it so much (and it turned out to be the most successful night in Cinema Narcs history), so we’re going to do it again. This Thursday (June 16) night at 8 PM Eastern, Andrew and I will be live-blogging the entire night of movies on Turner Classic Movies. Or, at least, we’ll TRY to liveblog them all. No promises.
Here’s the TCM lineup for Thursday, June 16:
8:00pm Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman (1958)
9:30pm Village of the Giants (1965)
11:00pm Queen of Outer Space (1958)
12:30am Mars Needs Women (1968)
2:00am The Cyclops (1957)
3:30am The Manster (1959)
4:45am The Killer Shrews (1959)
Be there, or be prepared for the wrath of the killer shrews!
